Most of the time, my PC is not in the MWN-network and I do not know what happens, if the automatic activation is not successful. How long does the PC have to be in the MWN-network, in order to make sure, that Office 2016 is reactivated automatically by the KMS-Server?

All activations via the KMS Server need to be renewed at least once every 180 days, by connecting to the KMS Server. Once you have activated Office for the first time, your PC will automatically try to contact the KMS Server every 7 days in order to reactivate your software products. In case the activation was unsuccessful, the PC will retry to connect to the KMS Server every 2 hours from there on out.

We therefore recommend leaving your PC in the MWN network for at least 2 hours, in order to make sure, the communication has successfully occured.
