Matlab "unable to install License"

Hello,

My MATLAB license that I activated through TUMOnline two months ago (when I joined TUM) has apparently expired and I am unable to update/extend it or request a new one. When I launch MATLAB, I am now asked to log in with my credentials and I get the option to activate a license, but I always get an error: "Unable to install license. Please try again later".

There is an option to activate using a license file, but such a file is not available through TUMOnline.

If it helps, this is on a Lenovo Thinkpad running Ubuntu 20.04.

Could you provide any help or suggestions regarding this?

Dear--,

Please the check the following two options:

Go to TUMonline and make sure your Matlab email is activated. (Software->Further Products). If this is not the case, reactivate and try again.

2.As a troubleshooting step, retry launching the MathWorks Product Authorizer with "sudo":

sudo /usr/local/MATLAB/R2023b/bin/glnxa64/MathWorksProductAuthorizer.sh

If you are still unable to launch MATLAB after activating with "sudo", you may have to uninstall and reinstall MATLAB. For further assistance, contact MathWorks Install Support.

Dear Helpdesk-Team,

Launching the MathWorks Product Authorizer as root has resolved the problem; the license activation succeeded at the last step without error this time. (Note: My MATLAB email was already been activated).

I had attempted to launch MATLAB with sudo earlier, but it failed due to the expired license; doing this for the authorizer itself was the key.
