As is clearly stated on the introduction, you have received per mail and as a printout upon obtaining your login, your M$ Windows login is NOT identical to your normal login. Thus, you have to set it before your first login. This error message occurs when you fail to do that. This is due do M$ Windows refusing to cooperate with the rest of the world.
The difference between M$ Windows and normal credentials:
Your normal RBG credentials consist of a username (usually the first 8 characters of your last name) and a password. Those are used to login to all RBG-related systems, except M$ Windows, as it refuses to cooperate with those systems. As a result, it uses the same username, but has an independent password. You may of course set the same password for both, but keep in mind, that changing one does NOT change the other, so you have to change both if you wish to keep them in sync.
How to set your M$ Windows password:
You can set your M$ Windows password on the RBG's ucentral.in.tum.de
website. To do that, follow these steps:
- Login to http://ucentral.in.tum.de using you normal RBG credentials.
- Go to
Reset Windows Password
.
- Enter your new M$ Windows password twice.
- Confirm.
- You may now login to M$ Windows (and only M$ Windows) with this new password and your usual RBG username.
Note: Keep in mind that this password is independent from your usual RBG password.
Note: Remember to follow the password rules, as non-conforming passwords are rejected. These are:
- Your password must be at least 8 characters long
- Your password must be changed at least once a year
- Your password must contains character from at least 3 of the following categories:
- Uppercase characters (A-Z)
- Lowercase characters (a-z)
